Justin Fields, the nation's No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2018, committed to Georgia.

Fan Sound Off: DawgNation ecstatic about No. 1 prospect Justin Fields choosing Georgia

The nation’s No. 1 football prospect in the Class of 2018 is headed to Athens. In-state 5-star quarterback Justin Fields (Kennesaw, Ga.) announced his decision Friday morning, committing to the Bulldogs over Auburn, LSU and Florida State.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 221 pounds, the dynamic Fields has drawn comparisons to former NFL MVP Cam Newton.

Here are several comments for Zaxby’s Fan Sound Off posted on the DawgNation Facebook page:

Jay Hughes: First time in a long time, I feel like Georgia is headed for a shot at a National Championship! Let’s see how many other BIG play makers follow Justin Fields. Go Dawgs!

Dexter Eadie: He is a Dawg!!!!!!! Let the flood gates open. Kirby get those scollys ready.

Austin Haynes: No coach has ever brought three 5 star qbs in back to back to back

Cory Kustermann: Kirby keeps another top recruit home!

Josh Owens: No excuses now!! Defense shaping up! Running backs for days! Now QBs lining up! Hope they redshirt him for first year.

James West: YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! His mama is awesome! She is responsible for this!

Drew Stephens: This is our biggest commitment since Matthew Stafford in my opinion. We’ve had some great players in between but he is the type of player that can win you games that you don’t have any business winning. If the team in Athens keeps playing the way they are there won’t be many of those games.

Chris Bush: We’ve had some dark days Dawgs fans but it sure is getting better. Wooooohoooo. Go Dawgs.

Marvin Roach: Taking Georgia BACK … How you beat Bama , Fla . Aub . Clem.? [It’s] simple[:] keep Georgia Boys away from them !!

Brian Michael: Can you feel it???? UGA momentum growing, may be taking the tide away from Bama……
