The Georgia Bulldogs turned Sound Bend, Ind., into Athens North Saturday night with their 20-19 defense-driven victory over the host Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Georgia fans both at Notre Dame Stadium and on Facebook were thrilled with the result. The stands at the refurbished Notre Dame Stadium were tinted red at Georgia’s end of the field.

Here is a glimpse of what DawgNation fans had to say on our Facebook page in response to the victory.

Some comments were edited for space, clarity and content.

James Crump: “Defense won this game but I still believe we need a calm Eason back who runs the offense like Fromm. We still need receivers who can get separation. The offensive line still looks unsettled. Other than that I am celebrating this win like it is 1981.”

William Major: “The defense was absolutely awesome. It kept constant pressure on Brandon Wimbush — who took a beating. The offense had its moments, but penalties, and turnovers, made this game closer than it could have been. D’Andre Swift had a big run, but our ground game did not dominate like I thought it would. It was a very good road win for the Dawgs.”

Charles Logan: “I haven’t been this happy about a sporting event in a long time! This is the kind of game they usually lose but they pulled this one out. Great victory!”

Zack Chambers: “We need Jacob Eason back. Jake Fromm will be a great, but he needs lots of improvement. He stares down receivers nearly every play and the still throws to a receiver he’s been constantly staring down — as the defender stands in front of him. He had lots of bad throws with wide open receivers. Like I said, he will be great. Not there yet. Eason is our guy.”

Michael Maddox: “Good win, but UGA must improve greatly if it is going beat Tennessee, Florida, Auburn and South Carolina.”

Steven Scott Taylor: “12+ penalties!?! That just won’t cut it in conference play.”

Selene McCarthy: “Great defense. Have to clean up those penalties.”

Hugh Stephenson: “There were some ugly wins in 1980, too.”

Scott Chambley: “What a great game. The UGA D is legit!”

James Thomas: “The defense saved the coach’s job. He has two of the best running backs in the country and didn’t use them like he should have.”
