Dawgs will wear white in Rose Bowl
Georgia football has unveiled the uniform it will wear in the Rose Bowl. As the lower seed, No. 3 Georgia will act as the road team and wear its away whites against the No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff semifinal Jan. 1.
The Dawgs will wear the traditional Georgia away get-up — red helmet, white shirt, silver britches — with a few slight tweaks. The first thing you’ll notice is the Rose Bowl patch, which looks wonderful teamed with Georgia’s red and white. The Nike swoosh also appears a bit different from the normal road jerseys.
Aside from the early November loss at Auburn, Georgia has played fantastic in white. The Dawgs not only wore them for traditional road games such as Notre Dame and Tennessee (41-0) but also against Florida, bucking the recent trend of going red vs. blue in the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. They wore white again in the SEC Championship Game win over Auburn.
If Georgia beats Oklahoma and goes on to play No. 1 Clemson in the national championship game, it likely will wear white again and will have worn away jerseys in three consecutive neutral-site games. I think fans tend to primarily think of the Dawgs wearing the traditional red jerseys. But if they can go 3-0 in the postseason on the way to a national title, while wearing the aways, there will special place in every Bulldogs fan’s heart for the white tops.

5-star Justin Fields will sign early
Georgia fans should be able to rest easy about the future of 5-star QB Justin Fields. With the major coaching shakeup in college football over the last month, there were whispers that Fields was wavering on his commitment to Georgia and keeping his options open. That no longer seems to be the case.
Fields announced Sunday night that he plans to sign his letter of intent on the new Dec. 20 early signing day during a ceremony at Harrison High School. With a date set to sign on the dotted line, it’s likely Fields will stick with his pledge to Georgia.
Fields was among a number of high-profile recruits to visit Georgia last weekend. He also received an in-home visit from Kirby Smart, offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and running backs coach Dell McGee last week.

5-star Jamaree Salyer sets decision date
Fields isn’t the only Peach State 5-star who will sign Wednesday. Pace Academy guard Jamaree Salyer is also set to make his decision official this week. But unlike Fields, Slayer hasn’t made a decision, at least not publicly. The 6-foot-4, 345-pound prospect will decide between Georgia and Clemson and announce his decision at a ceremony around 10:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
“I’m just ready to get this thing finished so I can go back to putting my head down and working,” Salyer told Jeff Sentell of DawgNation.
4-star James Cook’s mother explains why he visited FSU
UGA tailback commit James Cook put a scare into Dawgs fans when news hit that he was making an official visit to Florida State over the weekend. The 4-star’s brother, Dalvin Cook, played for the Noles, and James was committed to FSU at once as well. But his mother, Varondria Burnett, described the trip as a favor to new FSU tight ends coach Telly Lockette. From Sentell:
Lockette had spent the previous three seasons coaching running backs at Oregon State. Prior to that, he was the coach at Miami Central. Lockette coached both Dalvin Cook and Devonta Freeman on the way to Florida state titles in 2010 and 2012.
Both Cook and Freeman are now in the NFL. Cook is recovering from a season-ending left knee injury with the Minnesota Vikings. Freeman stars for the Atlanta Falcons.
“Coach Lockette asked and [James] went,” Burnett said. “We’ve been a part of FSU for three years. Coach Lockette has also meant a lot to Dalvin and Miami Central. No big deal.”

May the pup be with you.
The late @carrieffisher's dog Gary just watched #TheLastJedi! He sat on Fisher's former assistant's lap during the film. She said his ears perked up every time she was on screen ❤️@starwars @ABC7 pic.twitter.com/2rCCGIi6Al
