DawgNation Happy Hour: Tee Martin’s description of UGA’s defense is what fans want to hear

One of the lingering storylines for Georgia over the last couple of years is its continued pursuit of what is known as “Havoc Rate” — a cool name for a statistical category that typically includes sacks, tackles for loss, passes broken up and turnovers forced.

UGA had some big goals in that regard in 2019 and — despite the fact the Bulldogs were one of the nation’s best defenses — a few UGA players have admitted they didn’t hit their havoc-related goals last season.

That wasn’t a problem last Saturday against Auburn. UGA racked up three sacks, six tackles for loss and Mark Webb added an interception.

The disruptive day for the Bulldogs defense got the attention of UGA’s opponent for this upcoming Saturday, the Tennessee Vols — including Vols assistant Tee Martin, who discussed the UGA defense during an interview this week in terms that a lot of Bulldogs fans have been hoping to hear for quite a while.

We’ll address that topic in greater depth this week on the DawgNation Happy Hour. In addition to that, we’ll also talk about…

  • Why Jon Stinchcomb thinks UGA quarterback Stetson Bennett’s early season performances remind him of a great quarterback from the Bulldogs’ past.
  • And why some of the previous meetings between UGA and Tennessee should serve as a reminder that a Bulldogs’ win on Saturday should still be celebrated by fans.
