Georgia’s near-loss to Nicholls State on Saturday afternoon cost the Bulldogs a few spots in the polls this week.

Georgia fell to No. 16 in the media and coaches polls. They came in at No. 9 last week in the AP (media) and coaches rankings.

The Bulldogs trailed in the third quarter before retaking the lead and holding on for a 26-24 victory over the Colonels, an FCS team from Louisiana.

Nick Chubb failed to gain 100 yards for Georgia, the first time he has failed to reach in a game in which he was healthy to the end.

After Nicholls State took a 14-13 lead with 6:48 to play in the third quarter, Georgia scored on a 66-yard pass from Jacob Eason to Isaiah McKenzie and a 24-yard fumble recovery by Lorenzo Carter for another score, both by the 4:50 mark of the third quarter.

The Colonels scored 10 consecutive points in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs travel to Missouri next week to take on the Tigers. Missouri picked up its first win of the year with a 61-21 win over Eastern Michigan. RELATED: Associated Press Top 25 Poll | Amway Coaches Poll
