ATHENS — Georgia defensive lineman John Atkins is not on Georgia’s preliminary dress list, a pretty firm indication he will miss the game.

Atkins, who started three games this season, injured his leg in last week’s loss at Tennessee. Head coach Mark Richt called it a turf toe injury on Wednesday. Atkins has nine tackles this season, one for a loss, and had been part of a defensive line that has generally played well against the run.

Meanwhile, senior outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins is on the dress list, but don’t look too much into that. Reggie Carter, an inside linebacker who’s out for the year after shoulder surgery, is also on the list. So is fullback Christian Payne, who is dealing with a fibula injury and has not practiced in several weeks.

The preliminary list includes 78 players. The limit for SEC games is 70, so being on the preliminary list doesn’t ensure dressing. Not being on it does seem to ensure being out.

A few other dress list notes:

– Cornerback Devin Bowman, who did not make the trip last week, is on the dress list.

– Tailback A.J. Turman is dressing, despite being a scout-teamer during the week. A total of four tailbacks are set to dress, and fullback Quayvon Hicks got reps at tailback in practice this week.

– Receiver-kick returner Isaiah McKenzie (hamstring) is also not on the list, and thus out. UPDATE: Actually, McKenzie is dressed out. That’s quite a surprise.
