ATHENS, Ga. — Make it just three quarterbacks on Georgia’s official roster for the spring, and just two on scholarship, after a walk-on left the team.
Parker McLeod, who joined the team last year as a walk-on, is not listed on Georgia’s updated roster. McLeod signed with Alabama out of high school, then left the team and surfaced at Georgia as a student, joining the team last year.
Sam Vaughn, a junior, is now the lone walk-on quarterback on the roster. The team is due to add another quarterback this fall when Stetson Bennett IV arrives.
Freshman Jake Fromm has early enrolled, joining starter Jacob Eason as the lone scholarship quarterbacks, after the departure of Brice Ramsey.
A few other notes from Georgia’s updated roster:
- Michael Barnett is listed as both an offensive lineman and defensive tackle. The redshirt sophomore went between the two positions last year, after joining the team as a defensive lineman.
- Rashad Roundtree, a junior who played safety and inside linebacker last year, is listed at inside linebacker.
- Shakenneth Williams, a senior who briefly moved from receiver to cornerback last year, is still at receiver.
- Elsewhere on the offensive line, Isaiah Wynn, Lamont Gaillard and Dyshon Sims are all listed as guards, but that doesn’t mean they won’t end up at other positions. Wynn and Sims are candidates for tackle, and Gaillard could slide into the vacant starting job at center.
- Charlie Woerner is still listed at tight end, where he played last year as a freshman.
- Trent Thompson is listed on the roster, despite having withdrawn from classes this semester. Head coach Kirby Smart has said he’s hopeful that the star defensive lineman will return to the team this summer after dealing with a medical issue.
- Besides place-kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, the other walk-on kicking specialists include senior Cameron Nizialek (a transfer punter), junior Michael D’Angola, junior Will Cowart, junior Tanner Stumpe and redshirt freshman Mitchell Wasson. The latter two are listed as lace-kickers, the first three as punters.
