Georgia begins SEC play next season against Mississippi State on Sept. 23, according to the 2017 schedule released by the conference Tuesday night.
Mississippi State replaces Ole Miss as the SEC West foe other than Auburn, Georgia’s annual opponent from the West.
Before the Bulldogs begin the conference portion of their schedule, they will open the season at home Sept. 2 against Appalachian State, who pushed Tennessee to overtime before losing this year’s season opener to the Volunteers.
The following week, Georgia plays Notre Dame for the first time in a regular-season game. The teams will meet Sept. 9 in South Bend, Ind. The only previous meeting between the teams came in the Sugar Bowl during the 1980 season, when a 17-10 victory capped Georgia’s undefeated season that produced a national championship.
