Greyson Lambert was named the starter for UGA’s season opener against Louisiana-Monroe on Monday, and that was somewhat of a surprise.

Brice Ramsey, who did get some action last season while he backed up Hutson Mason, was viewed as the heir apparent to Mason. Ramsey will now take reps as the back-up quarterback for UGA, while Faton Bauta will be the third-string quarterback.

Lambert has only been a Bulldog for less than two months now as he transferred from Virginia, but Mark Richt must feel like Lambert has picked up the offense quickly and is ready to start.

In the video above, I discuss why it was surprising that Lambert beat out Ramsey and mention that this quarterback competition is far from over.
