ATHENS — Jayson Stanley hasn’t had a lot of sessions with the media during his career with the Georgia Bulldogs, but he made the most of the one he had after practice Tuesday.

The senior wide receiver from Fairburn was candid and honest in providing answers for all the questions that came his way.

Such as:

On the potential for improvement in quarterback Jake Fromm …

“They say there’s always room for improvement. If so, then I’m scared to see what Jake is really like. [Laughs] We could go so far. I see us going farther because, I mean, Jake improves every day. That’s where I get my (inspiration) from. I look at him and I’m, like, ‘OK, if this man can come out here and be happy every day, make calls, be up under all that stress but still keep a positive mindset, why can’t I?'”

On whether freshman Justin Fields is able to compete with Fromm …

“Yeah. Justin is coming along great, by any measure. Everybody is coming together and getting better as a team, I’d have to say. It’s coming along great.”

On late-arriving transfer wide receiver Demetris Robertson …

“I’m not going to say I’m surprised, but I’m happy he came. But the way I look at it is I had to go host D-Rob (on his official recruiting visit. So I was like, ‘shoot, now I got D-Rob, Tyler (Simmons), Matt (Landers). So I was happy with (Robertson also coming).”

On his infamous reaction after he and Natrez Patrick got pulled over in which he begged police to not bring Patrick into it …

“I didn’t want it to cost him, of course. But we both learned from it. We still talk about it. We talk about how we’re blessed to be in this position. I know he thanks me and I thank him just for being able to be a brother. That didn’t do anything to break our friendship or brotherhood.”

Stanley talked to reporters after practice Tuesday night. It was his first interview since the night of the SEC Championship Game.
