ATHENS — Greetings from a dreary Sanford Stadium, where the dreary atmosphere seems quite appropriate.
It’s been a rough week around these parts, and an actual football game seems a welcome distraction. It just won’t be a sunny or electric atmosphere. And the quarterback situation may just be a reminder of why things went so wrong this year for the Georgia football team.
Apparently the plan is to hold a competition during the game. Brice Ramsey and Greyson Lambert are both expected to play, according to SEC Network analysts who spoke to Georgia coaches on Friday. Then just before the game Mark Richt told television analysts that Lambert would start but Ramsey would also play:

There was still some subterfuge in pregame starting lineup announcements: The starting quarterback was announced as Faton Bauta … or Greyson Lambert … or Brice Ramsey.
By that time, Kentucky would have already known the deal if they were following social media.
Then there’s the weather, which actually might not be as bad as originally thought. While it rained hard this morning, it’s dry now and the forecast is calling for the rain to push away from Athens around kickoff. Let’s see if it holds off.
Officially the game is a sellout, based on tickets sold. But given the weather, the noon kickoff and the feelings among the fan base, it’ll be interesting to see how many people actually show up. It wasn’t looking very promising an hour before kickoff.
In any case, I’m here, as will the usual coterie of AJC/DawgNation staffers. Check in throughout the day for our coverage.
There were no surprises on the Dawg Walk, as far as players unexpectedly not dressed to play. John Atkins, the sophomore defensive lineman who has missed the past two games with a foot injury, is dressed to play. So are Jordan Jenkins and Isaiah McKenzie, who have been limited the past few games with injuries.
Oh to be a fly on the wall. Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt, who replaced Mark Stoops as FSU’s D-coordinator for one year, spent several minutes talking with Stoops before pregame warm-ups.
