ATHENS — Georgia lost one of its receivers and return men early in Saturday’s game against Kentucky.

Reggie Davis suffered a concussion while returning a punt in the first quarter and was quickly ruled out of the game. He sat on the bench with his helmet off shortly after the hit, and head athletic trainer Ron Courson spoke to coach Mark Richt, evidently telling him the news.

Davis, a junior, entered the game fourth on the team with 12 catches and 187 receiving yards. He had also been acting as the team’s punt returner, averaging 13.8 yards per return, including a 70-yard touchdown at Tennessee. (But Davis also had a critical pass drop in that game, as well a muffed fumble against Florida that resulted in a touchdown.)

Isaiah McKenzie replaced Davis on punt returns.
