ATHENS — While Georgia is limiting Sony Michel’s snaps in practice this week, the senior tailback is expected to play Saturday against Samford, according to head coach Kirby Smart.
Michel hurt his ankle during Saturday’s win at Notre Dame, but Smart indicated it was a minor injury. Michel was seen in a regular jersey during Tuesday’s practice.
“I think he’s going to be fine,” Smart said after Tuesday’s practice. “We’re just limiting his reps, and hoping he’ll be able to go Saturday. We think he’ll be able to.”
Michel led Georgia with 73 rushing yards, on 13 carries, in a 20-19 win at Notre Dame. But Michel was seen getting his ankle taped at the end of the game, with Nick Chubb carrying the ball as the team tried to run out the clock.
