The UGA Athletic Association announced on Monday that it would offer its student-athletes access to cryotherapy to help with recovery from workouts and games.

Athletes will be able to use a “state-of-the-art whole body cryotherapy chamber” from Impact Cryotherapy, a company in Atlanta that specializes in whole-body cryotherapy systems.

The cryotherapy chamber is filled with a nitrogen vapor that cools the chamber to a range between -120 and -140 degrees Celsius and lowers the temperature of an athlete’s top skin layer, according to the school’s press release.

UGA isn’t the first school in the SEC to experiment with cryotherapy. Over the summer, Alabama also began using the new technology to help its student-athletes.
