UGA had a signature moment for its softball program on Friday evening.
Pinch hitter Kaylee Pauiloa hit a dramatic two-run homer with two strikes and two outs in the seventh inning to lead UGA to a 3-2 win over No. 1-ranked Florida in an epic upset.
With the win, UGA (45-18) advanced to the Women’s College World Series. Florida finished the season with a 56-7 record.
The WCWS begins June 2 in Oklahoma City. UGA will be making its third appearance in the championship tournament, and the first since 2010.
