AUBURN, Alabama — Following the Bulldogs’ 20-13 win in their final conference matchup, here is what they had to say about the game:

“That was a great victory for Georgia. A lot of fun afterwards in the locker room. I got a chance to celebrate with the players and coaches. Just seeing a smile on everyone’s face. It’s always a war to come here and play. It’s always a battle.”

-coach Mark Richt’s opening statement

“I felt that he may have out-kicked his coverage. I just had a feeling that I just needed to catch the ball and do what I had to do. My teammates made great blocks and they came through for me.”

-receiver Isaiah McKenzie on his punt return for a touchdown “It’s great to have a game like this. It’s great to score touchdowns and help the team out. We had ups and downs throughout the season, and we came out here and said everything isn’t going to go well. It’s a big rivalry game and some things didn’t go well, but it was good win.”

-McKenzie’s feelings on having a strong game

“He’s got nerve, number one. You’ve got to have nerve, and sometimes that nerve will work against you, too. You may try to catch a ball that you shouldn’t be tying to catch.”

-Richt on McKenzie’s ability to be dynamic as a kick returner

“Isaiah played an amazing game. That punt return was huge for us. It swung the momentum in our favor. Isaiah was huge. So it was great to get another win.”

-quarterback Greyson Lambert on McKenzie’s performance

“I know a couple times we had some presence on the edge, meaning we had some tight ends running through the area where most great rushers can beat you on the edge, so we tried to make it where he had to go inside of that. If he was way outside, we wouldn’t have had a chance. We respected him enough to have a game plan for him.”

-Richt on Isaiah Wynn’s matchup with defensive lineman Carl Lawson

“The first half we were moving the ball but we just couldn’t finish down there. We got stopped on fourth-and-one and on third-and-one. We were able to move the ball down the field and convert some third downs but we could never finish. That is something we will definitely have to go back and look at.”

-Lambert on the offense

“We really had to stick together as a team, no matter what was going on outside our facility. We have to keep everyone focused on the one goal and that is to win ball games. We really shifted our focus on each other and how we can help each other do our jobs to make us win. We are playing for each other.”

-Lambert in battling the season’s adversity

“After Isaiah ran the ball back, we were all hyped. It made everyone else turn it up a notch. We had to make these plays and make these boys quit.”

-linebacker Jordan Jenkins on the way Georgia’s defense built off the offense

“I didn’t know if we had it. I remember getting hit and thinking ‘please God, please say he did get the ball. Please say he didn’t get the ball.’ I saw everyone cheering and figured someone picked the ball off. I looked around and watched everyone’s hands go our way.”

-Jenkins on converting turnovers

“Our mindset was finishing the game, no matter what the score was. Whether we were down or up, we just had to come out and play our game.”

-running back Sony Michel on the team’s second half mindset
