JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Following the Bulldogs’ 27-3 loss to the No. 11 Florida Gators, here is what the team and opposing head coach had to say:

“We lost, and all that counts are wins and losses. It’s not a good feeling. It is something you wish you never have to experience. It’s part of growing as a person and as a player and we just have to move on.”

-quarterback Faton Bauta on his performance

“We just have to stick to our guns, come back tomorrow and get ready to work. We have a lot of big games coming up, so we have to be ready.”

-Bauta on the rest of Georgia’s season after suffering its third SEC loss

“Faton fought hard, and he’s a very competitive guy and has a lot of out outstanding leadership skills. Some balls didn’t bounce the right way. We had a couple of drops and there were some misfires too.”

-Georgia coach Mark Richt on Bauta’s first start with the Bulldogs

“Brice punted extremely well. I’m going to have to go back and look at the reps. The first one was shaky but got a good bounce and then he started to boom them. He was outstanding for the first time around.”

-Richt on quarterback Brice Ramsey swapping to the starting punter role

“I think our defense was tremendous. After a while the dam is going to break when you have to keep going back out there after a three-and-out or a turnover. After a while it’s going to get tough. The last pick in the end zone, we could have gotten it to a two-score game. That could have changed the dynamic of the game and added to the energy level of the defense. We threw a pick and it’s demoralizing to the defense to have to go back out there and fight.”

-Richt on defending Florida’s offense

“They whipped us up front, and that’s going to be tough on any runner.”

-Richt on the offensive line performance, run game

“We played hard, but we have to be more productive obviously. Offensively we have to get first downs and we have to get points on the board. We struggled in that area….We told [the team] that we have to be men in this situation. We have to give credit where credit is due.”

-Richt on how his team should handle the offensive struggles

“When you lose a game, it is always disappointing, especially when you lose to those guys. They have a great team, so give them credit. We shot ourselves in the foot early and could never recover.”

-offensive lineman Greg Pyke on loss to Florida

“We’ve got some of the best backs in the country back there. It’s nothing against them. It’s us up front.”

-Pyke on run game

“I just think a lot of things did not go out way. We have to go back, watch the film and fix our mistakes.”

-linebacker Jake Ganus on the loss to Florida

“I don’t know how many snaps we played in the first half but on those other snaps we played like we were supposed to play. The thing we have to do is play them all. We have to learn to play them all the right way. And we will.”

-defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt on the learning curve of the defense and today’s performance “That was painful to say the least, I apologize for that but the end result was awesome. Our guys figured out a way to win. Can’t say enough about how we played defense.”

-Florida coach Jim McElwain on the game

“Yeah I did. Because I don’t expect to lose. We should never go into an event thinking we are going to come in second. Are we mature enough to handle the position we’re in? I don’t have the answer to that. To me that’s going to be the key to find out what kind of ball squad we have.”

-McElwain on whether he expected this team to make it to Atlanta and the SEC Championship
