Knoxville, Tenn.– Following the Bulldogs’ 38-31 loss to Tennessee, here is what Georgia and Tennessee had to say:

“With any game, there’s shifts in momentum. We weren’t really able to get it back after that, when they scored right before the half.”

-linebacker Jake Ganus on Georgia’s inability to match Volunteers’ 28-point run

“They do a lot of things, offensively, that’s tough to stop, with a running quarterback and whatnot. We just didn’t execute like we should have and that’s why we got the result that we did.”

-Ganus on lack of stopping the Volunteers’ offense

“They’ve got big backs. The quarterback is slippery so he’s tough to tackle.”

-Ganus on Tennessee offense

“Obviously last week’s loss was a very big game. We didn’t come to play and they blew us out. This week, we’re up. Lead changes here and there. Y’all saw the game. The games were just different. We were there until the end. But we’ve got to come out with a win.”

-quarterback Greyson Lambert on the difference between the Alabama loss and Tennessee loss “There are definitely a few reads I’d like to have back, a few throws that I’d like to have back. But obviously I didn’t do enough to put us in position to win the game.”

-Lambert’s post-game thought on his personal game

“It’s tough but you know when we play in a big game like this you’ve got to stay focused into the game. He’s in good spirits”

-running back Sony Michel on filling Nick Chubb’s shoes after the early-game injury “We’ve really got a young, inexperienced defensive football team. The guys are working really hard. We’ve just got to get them to come along a little faster.”

-defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt on the defense “We’re not good enough to give up plays like that. We’ve got to make the other team earn it.”

– Pruitt on defensive giving up a ‘gimme’ play to the Volunteers

“Our season isn’t over. We’ve got games to play. And that’s where we go. That’s what I tell my teammates: ‘keep fighting.’”

-wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell on Georgia’s second SEC loss “If he traded all the plays he made, we’d be down 14 points. He made two touchdowns. So he might want to retract that statement.”

-Mitchell on Reggie Davis’s statement that he’d trade the rest of his day for his final play “We’ll keep fighting, ‘cause we hate losing.”

Mitchell

“Our hearts and prayers go out to him. He’s a great player and he’s done a lot for that program and we love watching him play. Our hearts and prayers go out to him, and we wish him a speedy and well recovery.”

-Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs on Nick Chubb

“You know that’s the breaks of football. We’ve had many of those go against us. It’s like I tell our football team all the time, ‘the more you play hard, the more the ball will bounce in your arms.’ We got a few of those breaks tonight.”
