Tennessee, which lost to Vanderbilt and failed to make a bowl game this year, is a bitter rival to the Georgia Bulldogs.
Well, at least in the minds of some Tennessee fans, along with one football coach for the Volunteers.
Let’s start from the beginning: After Tennessee officially announced the hiring of former UGA offensive coordinator Jim Chaney on Wednesday, the Volunteers twitter account trolled the Bulldogs with this tweet.
To make things even more lively and intense, Tennessee assistant coach Brian Niedermeyer took it to the next level by tweeting “So we flipped an OC from TSDS? I’m with it. #GBO #Volnation #BigBankTakeLittleBank #PruittEra”
What is TSDS? The reference to UGA means “The School Down South.” If you follow SEC football, you know that Mississippi State sometimes refers to archrival Ole Miss as TSUN or “The School Up North,” rather than honor them by saying their official school name.
At DawgNation, we’ve got to give credit to Niedermeyer for being creative and unique with his UGA jab, because smack talk like both tweets today sure makes covering college football more fun.
As far as #BigBankTakeLittleBank, does Tennessee have more financial resources than UGA? Asking for a friend.
If you’re a Bulldogs fan, do you consider the Volunteers to be a top rival? The Bulldogs have won 13 of 19 meetings between the two schools since 2000.
And what do you think of TSDS? Will Dawg fans call Tennessee TSUN? Have they earned it yet? Or do you have a better nickname for the Volunteers? Please post below.
