Former UGA star Todd Gurley officially signed his contract with the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, and he released a video about it on Thursday night.
Guess which team gear Gurley was wearing in the video?
Hint: It wasn’t his new team, the Atlanta Falcons.
Gurley, 25, was wearing all red, but it was the red of the Georgia Bulldogs – a red baseball cap and a red jacket, both with the “G” on it.
Has any former Georgia player repped the “G” while in the NFL spotlight like Gurley? I can’t think of anyone, at least of Gurley’s stature. This is “next level” stuff that makes many UGA fans puff out their chest with pride.
Since Gurley agreed to sign with the Falcons a couple of weeks ago, Gurley has often used the phrase “homecoming” to describe the career move, even though he was raised in North Carolina. The H-word came up again in Thursday’s video:
“Signed and sealed — officially an Atlanta Falcon today,” Gurley said. “Atlanta was one of the first cities to really embrace me. Being a Georgia Bulldog. I’m back home … homegrown! Rise up. Let’s go Atlanta.”
The running back signed a one-year deal worth up to $5 million with the Falcons.
