Georgia seems to have gotten some very, very good news from one key defender on Saturday.

Defensive tackle Trenton Thompson posted on his Instagram account with the caption “Looking ahead! #UGA19 #seniorsoon”

Thompson was the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2015 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and after a strong sophomore season he looked poised for a breakout season. But he dealt with a “significant medical issue” in the offseason and then has battled injuries during the 2017 season after totaling 5 sacks a year ago. He has yet to record one this year.

The return of Thompson could be huge, especially when factoring in that Lorenzo Carter and Davin Bellamy will both be gone and that Roquan Smith likely will be a first-round pick in the upcoming NFL draft, should he declare.

Thompson and the Bulldogs take on Oklahoma in the Rose Bowl as part of the College Football Playoff. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 1.
