Twitter reacts to Georgia clinching third straight SEC East title
It was closer in the fourth quarter than originally anticipated, but Georgia held on to defeat Auburn, 21-14, on Saturday night at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
In the victory, junior quarterback Jake Fromm completed under 50 percent of his passes but also tossed three touchdowns and didn’t turn the ball over once. He also only took one sack.
Auburn rallied for two touchdowns in the fourth quarter and had two possessions in the final six minutes with a chance to tie by reaching the end zone. But Georgia stopped both Auburn drives with a pair of fourth-down stops.
The Georgia defense held Auburn to 165 yards through the first three quarters before the comeback started. The Tigers posted 84 rushing yards, but just 2.3 yards per carry. Georgia allowed its first rushing touchdown this season, but it was on a play where Bo Nix scrambled to the goal line from the 2-yard line.
Nix attempted 50 passes, completing 30 of them for 245 yards and a touchdown. He averaged only 4.9 yards per attempt.
After a couple rough outings against Auburn, Bulldogs running back D’Andre Swift posted 106 rushing yards, which nearly matched what Fromm did through the air. Swift averaged 6.2 yards per attempt.
With the victory, the Bulldogs clinched the SEC East for the third straight year. Georgia is just the second program to win the SEC East three consecutive seasons and the first team to since the Florida Gators in the mid-1990’s.

Dawgs have clinched the SEC East and will play in the SEC Championship for the 3rd season in a row.
It will also be the 3rd straight year they’re playing for a spot in the CFB Playoff should they win their final two games.

Looks like Georgia has punched their ticket to The SEC Championship game on December 7th vs. #1 ranked LSU. I was concerned about this game with Auburn as I felt like there was a strong possibility they could/would beat us. pic.twitter.com/SX8mUckDyq

The best part is that Florida Gator fans can finally OFFICIALLY make plans to watch the SEC Championship from their couches 🤗🤗🤗

We're gonna get that Georgia-LSU SEC Championship Game.
Now UGA just has to beat Jimbo to make sure it gets to Atlanta 11-1 (because UGA-Tech will be a massacre).

1 cat down. 1 more to go! If our defense plays like they did for 3 and a half quarters we should have ourselves a heck of a SEC Championship! pic.twitter.com/0Y794VHmp3
