Two Georgia starters don’t make the trip
LEXINGTON, Ky. — As expected, defensive tackle DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle and receiver Jayson Stanley will not play for Georgia at Kentucky on Saturday night.
Neither player is on the travel roster. Hawkins-Muckle sprained his ankle against Florida last week, and Stanley has what head coach Kirby Smart has called a mild infection.
Both players have started five games, though Hawkins-Muckle has played a lot more.
A sophomore, Hawkins-Muckle has 18 tackles this season. The good news for Georgia is it’s very deep on the line, so it just needs more playing time for freshmen such as Julian Rochester, Tyler Clark and David Marshall.
Stanley, also a sophomore, has had a tough season, with several high-profile drops. He doesn’t have any catches yet this season, and has mostly served as a run blocker on the outside.
