ATHENS — Kirby Smart attended his first Georgia basketball game as its football coach. But during the brief time he was in his seat on Saturday, the stream of fans asking for pictures wasn’t necessarily for him.

Evander Holyfield, the boxing great and father of a Georgia recruit, was also at the game. Holyfield and Smart entered along with a group of other coaches and recruits at halftime of the game, and stayed for about 20 minutes.

Elijah Holyfield, who committed to Georgia last fall, is on his official visit this weekend.

Smart’s assistants Kevin Sherrer and Dell McGee were also there hosting recruits. But most didn’t stay at the game long, perhaps not wanting to see their school’s team continue to get blasted by Texas A&M.

Smart was shown briefly on the video screen as the second half started, drawing an ovation. It was one of the few causes for excitement for the home crowd.
