A former graduate assistant coach for UGA’s football team passed away on Saturday after suffering a heart attack at a team workout.
D.J. Looney, who was a full-time assistant at Louisiana-Lafayette, was only 31 years old.
Looney coached at UGA during the 2016 season.
“The sudden loss of D.J. Looney was tragic for his family and friends but also for the coaching community,” Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said in a press release.
“During his time at Georgia he demonstrated the tools that would provide an outstanding career in the profession. I know I speak for all the Georgia Bulldogs in expressing our sincerest sympathy to his family.”
