UGA fans give harsh response to McGarity quote on comparing facilities to Alabama
Compare Georgia’s facilities to anyone in the SEC– just not Alabama. That’s what Georgia AD Greg McGarity is asking of Bulldogs fans.
On Tuesday, DawgNation’s Seth Emerson released a special report on Georgia playing “catch up” in the facilities race in the SEC. Particularly, the Dawgs appear to be lagging behind Kirby Smart’s old boss in Tuscaloosa, where Nick Saban has overseen the development of a college football player’s paradise at Alabama.
In response to the comparisons with the Crimson Tide, McGarity offered Emerson a quote that got under the skin of some of the UGA faithful.
“Compare it to someone else,” McGarity said. “Everyone compares it to Alabama. Compare it to Tennessee, compare it to LSU. So I think what happens is so many people refer to one place. There are 12 other schools in the league. Let’s compare to others. Some better. Some don’t have what we have.”
While there’s some truth to what McGarity says, that’s not what fans with national championship aspirations want to hear. After all, the path to the College Football Playoff likely includes a victory against the Crimson Tide in Atlanta until someone proves otherwise.
Here’s a look at some of the reaction to McGarity’s stance:
This quote is seriously laughable, appalling in my opinion! pic.twitter.com/yJbTl6lrnh

Money in reserves for what? Why would anyone donate if they are just going to sit on it? https://t.co/iA8vJdghRJ

It's been clear McGarity hasn' wanted to spend the money to upgrade to catch up with facilities. Why is this new news to some?
