For the third straight year, UGA is the overwhelming favorite to win the SEC East by the media members who know the conference the best.

The Bulldogs got more than 10 times the first-place votes to finish on top of the standings with 223, compared to the next closest competitor – Florida at 21 votes. The voting count was released at Friday’s SEC Media Days.

Rounding out the rest of the first-place votes were Missouri (3), South Carolina (1), Tennessee (1) and Kentucky (1). In fact, Vanderbilt was the only SEC East team that didn’t get a top vote.

Back to UGA: The Bulldogs have dominated the SEC East over the last two seasons, winning 13 straight games against subdivision opponents (dating back to the 2016 loss to Florida). Of course, UGA also repped the SEC East in the conference championship game the last two seasons.

Expectations are sky high this year for Georgia, which seems to be the nation’s consensus No. 3 team in the preseason rankings. This year’s team is considered to be coach Kirby Smart’s most talented roster, despite the early NFL defections.
