RUTLEDGE — Georgia basketball players were making it rain on the Camp Sunshine basketball court Wednesday when an impromptu dunk exhibition broke out.

The Bulldogs showed they can play above the rim as well as between the hashmarks on Saturday, including 6-foot-6, 330-pound defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

Davis, a 2018 Freshman All-American from Charlotte, N.C., managed to throw down a two-handed jam without tearing down the goal.

Sophomore punter Jake Camarda jumped into the dunk line and silenced his doubters with what appeared to be an effortless one-handed slam, debunking the myth that kickers and punters aren’t athletes.

Lewis Cine, a 6-foot-1 freshman safety from Cedar Hill, Texas, appeared to have the best vertical leap among the players who skied high to entertain the cancer-stricken youth at Camp Sunshine. Cine was the leading tacker in the G-Day Game with eight stops.

It was a return trip to Camp Sunshine for freshman receiver George Pickens, who looked just as impressive dunking as he does in his Hoover (Ala.) football highlights.

The unofficial winner of the dunk exhibition was another repeat visitor and freshman, defensive back Tyrique Stevenson.

Stevenson’s energy level is noteworthy, as he managed to scramble for three dunk attempts on Wednesday, one week after winning the dodge ball game on the Bulldogs’ first trip to Camp Sunshine this summer.

Georgia fans will like seeing the athleticism of incoming defensive lineman Zion Logue, even if his dunk attempted bounded off.

It was also clear junior college transfer DJ Daniel knew his way around the rim, even if his ambitious dunk attempts went off the mark.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart wasn’t present at the team’s second Camp Sunshine visit, but if he was, he surely would have breathed a sigh of relief when the players finished their high-flying antics without the hint of injuries.
