ATLANTA — The much-awaited black jerseys are coming back this year – maybe. Perhaps. Stay tuned.

Kirby Smart isn’t saying for sure.

“We’ll see. We’ll see where that goes,” Smart said when asked about it before Monday’s UGA donor event in Atlanta. “Nothing has been finalized yet.”

A player Georgia is recruiting tweeted out a picture of himself with Smart, on a visit, wearing a black jersey, and saying Georgia will wear them this year. That of course sent out a buzz among fans who want to bring them back, despite Georgia’s mixed results wearing them in the past.

Smart also sounded like he had mixed feelings about it.

“There’s a lot of energy around that, and excitement,” Smart said. “But I’ve always been one that the energy and excitement should be focused on who you’re playing, not what you’re wearing.”
