Will Ignont dropped a loaded Top 10 list on Saturday night. He even had a hierarchy to his that included UGA as his leader.

The nation’s No. 5 inside linebacker prospect had five SEC schools on his Top 10, plus a few national powers like Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and UCLA in there for good measure. Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Ole Miss also made that list.

Ignont grew up in North Alabama and transferred to Florida powerhouse IMG Academy for his senior season.  So that makes sense to see Alabama and Auburn in his Top 5.

Why did UGA claim the top spot? Well, he enjoyed his recent unofficial visit to UGA on Friday, but also wants to study journalism in college.  He also has his on-the-field reasons, too.

“Really my love for Coach (Kirby) Smart and Coach (Mel) Tucker and their coaching style,” he said. “I definitely think that with their coaching and my work ethic I could play in the league someday. As well as them being one of the schools that not only have what I want to major in which is journalism but are at the top of the game in that field.”

The 6-foot-2, 238-pounder was prioritized by the previous coaching staff at UGA, but he had a different feeling about the program on Friday when he was back on campus.

“When the old coaching staff was there I got a feeling that I really can’t describe,” he said. “Yesterday it was that times 10. I just feel as if I would really fit in there. It is something about the school and campus that catches my eye every time I’m there.”

Ignont is rated as the nation’s No. 150 overall prospect for the Class of 2017. He also already knows that he will be back at UGA for G-Day on April 16.

G-Day, Georgia’s annual spring football scrimmage, is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, at Sanford Stadium. Check back here daily for DawgNation’s G-Day coverage brought to you by Georgia United Credit Union.
