Georgia’s defensive back picture for 2017 just got cloudier.
South Florida 4-star CB Latavious Brini announced on his Twitter account Thursday morning that he has de-committed from Georgia. Brini was a big fan of UGA and receivers coach James Coley and he even acknowledged his lead recruiter as he shared the decision.
Yet the news brings to mind the “87.6 percent committed” statement he made to DawgNation earlier this season. That number has now plummeted down to zero.
The Mater Academy Charter (Hialeah, Fla.) standout rates as the nation’s No. 33 cornerback for this year’s signing class. He’s slotted with a No. 292 rating overall nationally.

His decision drops UGA down to 15 commitments for the Class of 2017. Georgia now has commitments from just two defensive backs for this year’s cycle. That’s 5-star safety Richard LeCounte III and 4-star cornerback William Poole III.
This places even more importance on the recruitment of 4-star safety DeAngelo Gibbs. Gibbs is the type of athlete that could excel at cornerback or safety at the college level.
