BREAKING: 5-star CB Jaheim Singletary has made his college decision

Want to attack every day with the latest Georgia football recruiting info? That’s the Intel. This entry is about the latest commitment to the 2022 class in Athens. Jaheim Singletary, a 5-star CB from Jacksonville, is now on the board for the nation’s top-ranked class on the 247Sports Composite ratings.

=============================================================

Jaheim Singletary wanted to mark the occasion of his mother’s birthday with something special. The 5-star CB prospect from Jacksonville chose to honor her by making his new college commitment on her day.

Those prospects are all slated to play defense in Athens. Georgia has been working hard to earn this commitment behind the scenes dating back almost a full year, at least. The Bulldogs beat out a field that included other top contenders in Florida and Miami.

Singletary took his official visit to UGA back in June but continued to make consistent trips to Athens for gamedays this fall. He had de-committed from Ohio State on August 1, 2021.

Due to his lanky frame and build, he’d picked up the nickname “Slim” to just about anyone who knows him well. It was even so widely accepted that his name badge as a visiting recruit on his trip to UGA even said “Slim Singletary” every time he was on campus.

Singletary is committed to play in the Under Armour All-American Game in Florida on Jan. 2.

Jaheim “Slim” Singletary commits: What this means for UGA

Singletary now stands to be a part of the best defensive backs class and, quite likely, the best defensive recruiting haul in Kirby Smart’s history in Athens.

He’s the second-highest-rated commitment in the class behind 5-star Jefferson safety Malaki Starks. Georgia’s five highest-rated commits in this class are all slated to play on the defensive side of the ball.

All told, the Bulldogs have now stacked up a tally of nine defensive prospects among the 12 highest-rated current commitments on the team.

There are three of those that are slated to play in defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae’s room in Athens. That includes the recent commitment from Julian Humphrey. The Bulldogs also have a strong chance to add another 5-star DB to this class in priority target Kamari Wilson out of IMG Academy.

Georgia now has four defensive back commitments rated among the nation’s top 104 overall recruits on the 247Sports Composite ratings in Starks, Singletary, Humphrey and Marquis Groves-Killebrew. JaCorey Thomas, a 4-star safety from Florida, is also in this defensive back class as the nation’s No. 318 overall prospect.

With this decision, the Bulldogs also move into a tie with Alabama for the most commitments (three) from 5-star prospects in this cycle.
