BREAKING: 5-star DL Mykel Williams is now a Georgia Bulldog
Want to attack every day with the latest Georgia football recruiting info? That’s the Intel. This entry is about the latest with Mykel Williams and his commitment to the University of Georgia.
Georgia lost a 5-star it had on its mind yesterday in WR Luther Burden. Burden chose to stay home and play for Missouri.
That disappointment won’t last long today. That’s because the Bulldogs pulled off the 5-star flip of Southern Cal commitment Mykel Williams to stay home and play for Georgia.
The fact that Williams’ mother was spotted on campus with a bag full of gear in pink colors on Saturday had to be a positive sign as well. The 5-star DL had several of his sisters in the stands with him against Kentucky for his official visit.
Williams now becomes the second 5-star commitment in this class for Georgia. He joins 5-star ATH Malaki Starks in that column. He is also now the second-highest rated commitment in a class that now stands at 20 commitments for this cycle.
That decision also pushed UGA past Penn State into second place for this cycle on the 247Sports Team Composite ratings. Alabama now holds a slim 285.26-283.83 lead on the Bulldogs in the race for the nation’s top class for 2022.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Williams had 17.5 sacks last season for Hardaway High. As of earlier this month, he had already piled up a dozen sacks so far during his senior year. His senior year tape also reflects a lot of work on offense as a tight end. He’s made some key blocks for the Hawks so far this year as well as piling up the sacks in 2021.
Check out the film below for his work through the midpoint of his senior season.
