ATHENS — The ever-evolving Alabama and Georgia trade of coaches has added another name.

Sam Petitto, who served as Georgia’s defensive backs coach during the bowl, is going to Alabama as assistant director of player personnel. That’s according to TideSports.com, in a report that could not be independently confirmed, but certainly seems logical.

Petitto came to Georgia two years ago at the behest of Jeremy Pruitt, who has now gone back to Tuscaloosa to be the Crimson Tide defensive coordinator. Petitto was in an off-field role at Georgia, as director of player personnel, before being elevated for the TaxSlayer Bowl after Pruitt’s early departure.

There’s an office available at Alabama for a support staffer, vacated by Glenn Schumann, who went from an off-field role there to being Georgia’s new inside linebackers coach.

Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker, of course, are now at Georgia in their new respective roles as head coach and defensive coordinator.
