ATHENS — Georgia defensive lineman Jonathan Ledbetter, expected to be a starter and key player this season, missed Saturday’s scrimmage with an unspecified ailment.

But head coach Kirby Smart indicated it is not a long-term situation.

“He’s got a little bit of an illness right now,” Smart said, saying he couldn’t disclose more, but adding: “Expect to have him back any day.”

Ledbetter started four out of the seven games he played last season, after sitting out the first six due to a suspension. He had 24 tackles, a sack and five quarterback pressures in his abbreviated season.
