Top Dawgs – Names

Richard LeCounte III — There is a proud tradition of III’s in the NOY tournament. There’s Neptune Pringle III, Cantwell Faulkner Muckenfuss III and, of course, 2016’s winner Pope McCorkle III. Richard LeCounte III is not as extreme as those three, but it doesn’t have a certain regal quality to it. He sounds like a French baron in the middle ages. Good stuff.

Sony Michel — An oldie, but a goodie. It’s a name that sounded strange when he signed with Georgia but has grown more and more normal over his years in Athens. His mom is a genius for being the first person to name someone Sony. We need more Sonys.

Justice Milz — Justice Milz is a freshman softball player for Georgia, but if that whole softball thing doesn’t work, she already has a name perfectly suited for fighting crime.

Pachis Roberts — I’m a big fan of any name that’s has a different spelling take on a word, so Lady Dog Pachis Roberts has a name right up my alley. Pachis — short for another awesome name, Pachiayaanna, if I’m not mistaken — for patches is one of the best of the genre.

DaQuan Hawkins-Muckle — Three names. Each more memorable than the last. What more can you ask?

That’s some good stuff, but no UGA athlete holds a candle to any NOTY candidates. At least not yet. Kirby Smart needs to put the full-court press on Quindarious Monday. I can see the “It’s Monday in Athens” signs now.
