Twitter declares Georgia 2017 SEC East favorite after Liberty Bowl victory over TCU
The Georgia Bulldogs ended their 2016 season on a high note Friday afternoon, defeating TCU 31-23 in the Liberty Bowl to cap off an 8-5 season. And because the internet waits for no one, people are already hyping Georgia as the 2017 SEC East favorites.
Though next season is still about nine months away, that hype derives from the fact that not only was the SEC East poor in 2016, but that Georgia returns many of its best playmakers, including QB Jacob Eason and RBs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. With all that talent coming back, it’s clear that the Bulldogs are the early leader to represent the East in Atlanta next season:
Big win for Georgia. That’s a solid team that should develop nicely and be the SEC East favorite in 2017.

It’s a bit premature, to be sure, but after a big bowl win a little optimism never hurts. As Georgia fans well know, however, being the preseason favorite guarantees nothing once the real games start, so if the team wants to make good on this early hype they’ll need to look good on the field, and not just on paper.
