UGA may be looking at one of its SEC East rivals to find a new offensive coordinator.

The Bulldogs have offered the job to Kentucky offensive coordinator Eddie Gran, per Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio.

“Smart has offered Gran total control of the offense and a salary of at least $1.1 million.”

Georgia is seeking a new offensive coordinator after Jim Chaney resigned to take a similar role with Tennessee this week.

This past season, Kentucky was ranked 104 out of 130 FBS teams in total offense, but the Wildcats won 10 games for the first time since 1977. They wrapped up the season with a win over Penn State in the Citrus Bowl.

Barrett Sallee, a college football analyst with CBS Sports, recently gave Gran a lot of praise. “The way he coaches to his offensive talent makes him one of the top five offensive coordinators in the country right now,” Sallee said, per Kentucky.com’s John Clay.

UPDATE: Per FootballScoop.com, “FootballScoop spoke with folks with direct knowledge of the situation and believe it is fair to say Eddie was contacted about a role on the staff at Georgia. Based on our conversations, it seems ‘offered’ is a bit overstated. Sit tight on this one.”
