The Georgia gymnastics team, once among the most dominant in the country, saw its season end on Friday night after failing to make the national finals in St. Louis.

The Gymdogs finished last in their 6-team semifinal, making it the second time in 3 years they did not make the Super Six.

The team’s final record was 15-15, making it three straight seasons without a winning record.

“It was a rough season,” Georgia gymnastics coach Danna Durante said in a team release. “It certainly started in a tough spot but we saw some immediate resilience in this group. They had a great deal of discipline and commitment. I think we got better and better and better, and they gave it everything they had. The 2018 season starts tonight for me, for our coaches and for our athletes.”

This was the fifth season for Durante, who was hired after athletics director Greg McGarity fired Jay Clark after 3 seasons. Clark, now an assistant at LSU (which won Friday night’s regional), was the assistant under legendary coach Suzanne Yoculan, who retired in 2009 after winning 5 straight national championships.

Since then, the Gymdogs have struggled to get even close to that level:

2010: Finished tied for second in NCAA regionals, 13-8-1 overall record.

2011: Finished tied for ninth at NCAAs, 18-11-1.

2012: Finished 11th at NCAAs, 18-9.

2013: Finished sixth in Super Six, 20-16-1.

2014: Finished fifth in Super Six, 19-14.

2015: Finished ninth at NCAAs, 14-14.

2016: Finished sixth in Super Six, 15-20.

2017: Finished 12th at NCAAs, 15-15.
