It’s probably safe to assume that former Georgia linebacker Tim Kimbrough and defensive coordinator Mel Tucker won’t be exchanging Christmas cards.

Or if they do, it’ll probably come after some smoothing out of some issues that still appear to be unresolved for at least one of the parties involved.

On Monday morning, Kimbrough caught wind of the rumor that Tucker may be a candidate for the open Georgia State head coaching position, and he took to social media to speak his mind on that issue.

Here are some screenshots from Kimbrough’s Twitter account, where he scoffed at the idea of Tucker leaving the program after just one season and complained about Tucker moving him to second string on the defense for what Kimbrough described as academic reasons:

While Tucker may be a potential candidate for the role, it’s worth pointing out that it’s far from a sure thing.

Kimbrough, who started seven games for the Bulldogs in 2015, never quite seemed to gel with the new coaching staff. He left the program in August after a dispute with the coaching staff.

“I just wanted to sit out, so the people in front of me could start until they needed me, until the team needed me,” Kimbrough said in August, according to DawgNation’s Seth Emerson. “But since I left practice, coach, he was like, since I left practice I’ve got to be kicked off the team, or I had to transfer. So I just said I would transfer.”

Head coach Kirby Smart released a statement through the team shortly after Kimbrough’s departure.

“Based on a mutual decision between Tim (Kimbrough) and I, he will no longer be a part of our football program,” Smart said. “We wish him the best as he continues his education and playing career.”

Though Kimbrough initially announced he would transfer from UGA, he announced in October that he planned to instead prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft.
