ATHENS – This was the first day that Georgia would begin installing the gameplan against North Carolina. So the media piled off the bus Thursday curious about what it might see during its viewing period.

Well, this post will have quite a few “for what it’s worth” prefaces. Get used to it, if you haven’t already by now.

For what it’s worth, during a drill in which they threw to the receivers, went in this order: Jacob Eason, Greyson Lambert, Brice Ramsey.  Then they went into some combo throwing drills (two quarterbacks at a time.) The third period, the only other one the media was allowed to see, was a footwork drill, and the order then was Eason, Lambert, Ramsey.

The order of that drill has been more a mish-mash thus far in camp. The individual throwing drill, on the other hand, was a new one. Or at least it hasn’t been seen much before Thursday.

Meanwhile, for what it’s worth (there you go again) Tyler Catalina was still with the ones at left tackle, with Isaiah Wynn at left guard and Lamont Gaillard at right guard. It’s been that way for about a week now. But again, the question is whether Eason and Catalina are getting more reps as a way of catching them up, or because that’s the way they’re planning for against North Carolina. For what it’s worth, we don’t know.

Oh, and the order the tailbacks ran during a drill: Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Brendan Douglas, Tae Crowder, Brian Herrien. Pretty safe to say that order is fairly close to reality.

More updates:

  • Freshman tailback Elijah Holyfield was again on the exercise bike rather than practicing, though he was in full pads and a helmet. Holyfield is dealing with a low ankle sprain.
  • Michel is still in a black non-contact jersey.
  • Offensive tackle Sam Madden, a redshirt freshman who had a recent bout of mononucleosis, remained sidelined.
