Jamyest Williams is ten feet tall. Forget that he’s listed at five feet and almost nine inches tall on the roster. Just watch his film. He’s a terrific cornerback prospect regardless of his height.

The nation’s No. 7 cornerback from Archer High in Metro Atlanta is one of several elite prospects who will descend on UGA this weekend. Williams will make it to UGA on Saturday morning.

The 4-star prospect was in action at the Adidas Showcase last week and was a few steps ahead of every defensive back during agility drills. That’s despite a cyst on his foot he will need to get sliced off in the near future. It won’t keep him away long.

For Williams, a trip to UGA will always circle around a “coming home” theme. He grew up in Athens and thinks about that at times. He said it will be up to how his family feels about him going back home to play when he makes his decision. Look for it to happen sometime during his senior season.

The nation’s No. 50 overall prospect will have to feel “at home” at his old home in order to play at UGA, but there are other factors.

“You want to go to a school where you get a great education,” Williams said. “A lot of schools offer that. Guys also want to go to a school where they will win and feel comfortable. You want to go to a school where you are cool with the players and the coaching staff.”

Does he think the new UGA staff will win?

“It will depend on how they do in spring practice,” Williams said. “I just have to watch them in the spring and see the way this staff coaches with their new style. I’ll be able to tell if they will win from that.”

He wants to play in the NFL. That’s his dream, but he’s looking at things the right way.

“I also want to be successful in that classroom and take care of my family no matter what,” he said. “Even if I make the league, I’ll still have my whole life ahead of me. I want to have a great plan to set myself up for my future.”

Kirby Smart and company will have a hard time matching last weekend. UGA hosted one official visitor for the Class of 2016 and a horde of talented 2017 prospects on unofficials. The Bulldogs landed three commitments out of those visits.

A few other weekend visitors stand out. Grayson defensive back and receiver DeAngelo Gibbs is a 5-star cornerback and rates as the top prospect in Georgia for 2017. He’ll be in town on Friday and Saturday. Westlake defensive back AJ Terrell picked up a recent UGA offer and came in on Friday afternoon with 2017 commit and teammate Jaden Hunter. Let’s also make sure to note that highly-coveted LB Nate McBride from Vidalia will also make the trip to UGA.

Cartersville 5-star quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be in Athens this weekend, too. He’s rated as the nation’s No. 1 overall prospect for the Class of 2018.

Laney High defensive tackle Tyrone Truesdell doesn’t have a UGA offer, but one should be expected. Truesdell wowed with a few eye-opening reps against former ‘Bama commitment Netori Johnson at the Rising Seniors practices held back in December.

The nearly 6-foot-4, 332-pounder has impressive brute strength. Auburn, South Carolina and Louisville have offered. Auburn came to see him twice in five days. Coach Gus Malzahn was walking the halls of his school to see him back in January.

Truesdell has been to almost every UGA home game over the last couple of seasons.

“(A UGA offer) will mean a lot,” Truesdell said.

DawgNation has been able to confirm all of the names on the list below, but it is by no means official.
