Everything you need to know about 4-star CB DJ Daniel and his commitment schedule
Welcome to Good Day, UGA, your one-stop shop for Georgia football news and takes. Check us out every weekday morning for everything you need to know about Georgia football, recruiting, basketball and more.
Major Georgia target and 4-star CB D.J. Daniel will announce his commitment today
Georgia, which already owns the No. 1 recruiting class in the country per the 247Sports Composite, could be adding another impressive piece to its 2019 haul on Thursday, as 4-star cornerback DJ Daniel. And DawgNation will have live coverage throughout the day.
Daniel is set to announce his commitment at 2 p.m. ET, live from Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, Ga.. DawgNation’s Jeff Sentell will be at the announcement ceremony to bring updates as they happen live. Brandon Adams will be back in the studio to provide reaction to the news, whether it be good or bad for Georgia.
You can catch all the live coverage on DawgNation’s Facebook, Youtube or Twitter page. DawgNation’s coverage of the event will begin at approximately 1:40 p.m.
The 4-star cornerback is the No. 12 JUCO player in the 2019 and the No. 3 overall cornerback prospect. Georgia’s most recent commitment, 4-star linebacker Jermaine Johnson, also comes from the JUCO ranks. 2018 signee Tramel Walthour is also playing at the junior college level this year as well.
Among the other schools vying for Daniel’s commitment are Kentucky and South Carolina. While Kentucky might seem like more of a long shot, South Carolina is worth watching here. The Gamecocks have shown that they can pull a defensive back that Georgia wants out of the state, as the Gamecocks did so back in the 2017 recruiting cycle with Jamyest Williams.
Daniel is originally from Griffin, Georgia. Last season he racked up 26 tackles and 3 interceptions for Georgia Military College. Should he pick Georgia, he would give Georgia 19 commitments in the class, with 17 of them being of the 4-star or better variety. Daniel has made multiple visits to Georgia and all nine of the crystal predictions made for Daniel are towards Georgia.
An update from Mike Bobo
On Wednesday afternoon, former Georgia quarterback and offensive coordinator Mike Bobo posted an update on his status as he remains in the hospital following some numbness in his feet.
“I want to express my sincere appreciation for the outpouring of care, concern and prayers that I an my family have received,” Bobo said in a statement he posted on Twitter. “Lainie and I, and our Children are extremely grateful for this support and for the great medical care that I continue to receive, and for the great medical care that I continue to receive.
“I am currently in the process of a multiple-day treatment for a peripheral neuropathy and continue to be encouraged by the results of the on-going medical testing.”

Kirby Smart, a former teammate of Bobo’s, weighed in on the matter following Wednesday’s practice. And he seemed pretty confident that Bobo would be back on the sideline in no time.
“If I know Mike Bobo, whatever he’s dealing with,” Smart told reporters. “He was built rock-solid. I know he’ll fight his way through it.”
Smart added that he had been in contact with Bobo. Colorado State opens its 2018 season on Aug. 25 against Hawaii while Georgia opens its schedule a week later against Austin Peay.
Your laugh of the day
If you can watch this without laughing or falling out of your chair, kudos to you. Because of all the possible hot takes to give, this one from Brian Jones of CBS Sports is downright comical.
CBS Sports asked a number of panelists to make their predictions for the College Football Playoff this season. And Brian Jones said that he thought Florida, yes the Florida Gators who went 4-7 a year ago and lost 42-7 to Georgia last season, would not only make the College Football Playoff, but also do so as the No. 2 seed.

— CBS Sports Network (@CBSSportsNet) August 16, 2018
Florida is under new leadership in Dan Mullen, but Florida doesn’t exactly scream of a team that seems destined for the College Football Playoff. For one, it still doesn’t have a quarterback, something that has been an ongoing issue at Florida for a while.
Of the CBS Sports analysts who made their predictions, only one of them, Randy Cross, picked Georgia to make the Playoff. And he also had Alabama making the College Football Playoff, which is something DawgNation’s Brandon Adams has noticed happening quite frequently among the national media.
Georgia and Florida play this year on Oct. 27 in Jacksonville.
Every Wednesday on the various DawgNation social streams, Sentell and Adams sit down and provide you the latest on all things Georgia recruiting on Before The Hedges. Good Dog of the Day
Even a good dog can give up his seat on the subway.
I was riding BART today when a man and his extremely large Great Dane stepped aboard the train. It was a bit busy, so he told the dog to stand up and the dog flat out STOOD ON TWO LEGS AND RODE THE TRAIN THROUGH THE TRANSBAY TUBE. pic.twitter.com/MuSlN0IeSK
