Jake Fromm continues to impress any coach who walks into the Georgia football facility and practice fields.
The Bulldogs quarterback is set to enter his sophomore season this fall, and he doesn’t appear to have missed a beat with his leadership, both on and off the field.
Bruce Arians, former head coach of the Arizona Cardinals and offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, spent some time in Athens this spring as Georgia conducted its practices, and Fromm made quite the impact on him.
“I’m amazed at Jake, his command of the team,” Arians said from his foundation’s golf tournament on Monday. “And not just on the field. When I was sitting in the team meeting room and he walked in, you could tell it was his team, at such a young age.”
During his time with the Steelers, Arians coached Ben Roethlisberger and won a Super Bowl. He also helped to revive the career of Carson Palmer in Arizona. Arians has been named NFL Coach of the Year twice in his career, including for his work as the interim head coach of the Indianapolis Colts in 2012 after taking over for Chuck Pagano, who missed time while battling and defeating leukemia.
Arians has also literally written a book about coaching quarterbacks, titled, The Quarterback Whisperer: How to Build an Elite NFL Quarterback, making his comments about Fromm even more meaningful.
But Arians didn’t stop with the Georgia sophomore. He also praised the Bulldogs latest incoming 5-star quarterback Justin Fields.
“The young quarterback is just an unbelievable athlete,” Arians said. “There are no worries at the quarterback position at the University of Georgia for a long time.”
You can view Arians full comments on the Bulldogs quarterbacks below in the video from Justin Felder of Fox 5 in Atlanta.
Georgia coach Kirby Smart also spoke at the tournament, and we’ll have more on what he said throughout the day on DawgNation, starting with this status update on freshman running back James Cook.
