Get hyped for the WLOCP
Happy Cocktail Party Eve, y’all!
Maybe you’re already down in Jacksonville. Maybe you’re heading out Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Or maybe you’re not going at all and planning to watch the game from the comfort of your own home. Whatever your status this weekend, it’s a safe bet that you’re pumped for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. But you can always get more pumped, can’t you?
To that end, Georgia football released a hype video ahead of the clash with the Gators, featuring The Outsiders by Eric Church.
Saturday can’t come soon enough.
Dawgs nab another top tailback
Georgia fans also got a gift of sorts on Cocktail Party Eve. Miami 4-star tailback Miami 4-star tailback James Cook — younger brother of former FSU tailback Dalvin Cook — committed to the Bulldogs Thursday night. Kirby Smart now has pledges from two of the best tailbacks in the Class of 2018. 5-star Zamir White, who committed in June, is rated as the top high school tailback in America by the 247Sports composite. Cook is No. 3.
Smart is obviously excited about Cook’s decision. Moments after Cook announced his choice, Smart tweeted a video package full of highlights from the best tailbacks in Georgia football history.

Georgia may be losing Nick Chubb and Sony Michel after this season, but between D’Andre Swift, Brian Herrien, Elijah Holyfield, White, and Cook, it won’t be hurting for options to find their replacements. Take a gander at the kind of damage Cook can do in this video:
Georgia to wear white jerseys Saturday
Well, this sucks. From Seth Emerson of DawgNation:
Georgia will not be wearing red jerseys, as it has the previous three years against Florida, which wore its blue jerseys those years. The Bulldogs are instead going back to wearing white.
“Georgia will wear white tops for this game as the away team,” UGA team spokesman Claude Felton said in an e-mail. “We are not wearing the home game tops as we have the last couple of years.”
Some folks don’t care anything about jerseys or which are worn in which games. I’m not one of them. I watch a lot of sports on TV and in person, so I want what I see to be as visually pleasing as possible.
Going red vs. blue in the Cocktail Party these last few years was something I enjoyed simply because you don’t get to see teams wearing those solid colors face off often. It made the game a little different from other rivalries and, aesthetically speaking, it just looked good. I don’t know why the powers that be went back to traditional home and away jerseys, but I hope it’s an anomaly instead of the new normal.
Heads or tails?
There are plenty of Georgia fans who think Florida has some kind of preternatural advantage against the Bulldogs in the Cocktail Party. When you look at the all-time record for the last 30 years and some of the devastating losses favored Georgia teams have suffered, it’s easy to understand why. But senior defensive back Aaron Davis is taking a more logical approach. From Chip Towers of DawgNation:
“It’s hard to take past events and bring them over to this year,” he said, knowing that the Bulldogs have lost the last three games in the series, and 21 of the last 27. “You have different players, different teams, different coaches every year. Obviously, [Florida has] been doing something right based on the past record. But each game is its own.
“I like to think of it like a coin flip. Just because you get 21 heads in a row doesn’t mean the next one has to be tails.”
