ATHENS — Georgia will pay new offensive line coach Sam Pittman quite handsomely, and has given him a three-year contract, which is believed to be a first for a position coach at Georgia.

Pittman will earn $650,000 annually through the end of the 2018 season, according to a memorandum of understanding released by UGA on Friday.

It’s a raise over the $525,000 salary that Pittman had at Arkansas. That contract with Arkansas also included a $250,000 buyout through Feb. 15, 2016.

And UGA is paying that buyout, giving Pittman a one-time payment of $250,000 this month.

Rob Sale was earning $400,000 this year as Georgia’s offensive line coach.
