BREAKING: Georgia flips 5-star WR George Pickens from Auburn
It was a big boom. Not only a boom but a 5-star boom at that. George Pickens was the National Signing Day surprise everyone was waiting on.
Well, he more than delivered the juice to score National Signing Day as another win for the Bulldogs.
The 5-star receiver chose to flip to the Bulldogs instead of stick with a deep-rooted pledge to Auburn on Wednesday morning.
The 6-foot-5, 195-pound receiver now becomes the fifth prospect with the 5-star rating in the 2019 class at UGA.

Pickens had been committed to Auburn since July of 2017. The Hoover High (Hoover, Ala.) prospect rates as the nation’s No. 4 WR prospect and the No. 24 overall recruit on the 247Sports composite ratings.
The decision now gives the Bulldogs two of the nation’s top five receivers in the 2019 class. Dominick Blaylock signed with UGA earlier this year.
It also makes for a fairly impressive grip on the elite talent in the state of Alabama by the Bulldogs. Georgia has now got into that SEC West hornet’s nest and signed the top two players in the state for 2019.
The Bulldogs signed 5-star OL Clay Webb back in December. Webb is already on campus as an early enrollee at UGA.
This decision was definitely a shock to the entire recruiting industry and also his high school coaches Hoover High at Alabama.
Pickens has consistently brought up the Bulldogs as a school of merit in his recruiting. It seems the Bulldogs have always been in the running there. Even with all the Haselwood storylines.
Why is that?
“It is really just their play style,” Pickens said. “They can play with anybody. They are kind of almost like Alabama. You know how Alabama like might be hot and cold but you know for sure they can play with anybody. You can possibly be wearing a ring. You can go to the NFL. That’s really what is in my mind right now with Georgia.”
The 5 things to know right away about George Pickens
The historical perspective here must be noted first. Pickens, a 5-star in the 2019 class, becomes the first wide receiver recruit the Bulldogs have signed with a 5-star rating since Marlon Brown in 2009.
Dominick Blaylock, another 2019 signee, did have a 5-star rating at the time he signed with the Bulldogs. Yet the elite talent lost his fifth star in the final rankings evaluations for the 2019 cycle for the 247Sports composite rating.
Georgia did sign 5-star ATH Terry Godwin back in 2015, but he was not rated as a receiver when he signed.
