Kirby Smart will hit the road for satellite camps again this week.

The UGA football coach will attend at least two off-campus prospect camps, including one hosted by the high school of the nation’s No. 1 overall recruit for 2018.

On Wednesday, Smart will be the celebrity coach at the LakePoint Showcase in Cartersville, Ga. The star attraction at the camp will be Trevor Lawrence, the 5-star quarterback from Cartersville High School who is rated as the country’s top junior.

UGA, Tennessee and Clemson appear to be the frontrunners for Lawrence, who made an unofficial visit with the Bulldogs this weekend. Smart will get to see the prized prospect again on Wednesday on Lawrence’s home turf.

“It didn’t take a whole lot of convincing to get Kirby to come,” Cartersville High School coach Joey King said with a laugh. “He played for my uncle (Joe Kines, the former UGA defensive coordinator), and he said he’d ‘love to be there.’ I’m sure it helped with Trevor being there. I know Kirby loves being around Trevor.”

King organized the camp. Smart will be joined there by coaching personnel from Georgia Tech, Colorado State, and Iowa, among other colleges. It costs $40 per player to participate, and the camp will go from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Thursday, Smart is scheduled to go to another satellite camp in Buford.

It has been a busy June for Smart with off-campus appearances. In the last 10 days, Smart has also made stops at two camps in the Atlanta area.

Adding Lawrence to the QB depth chart would be a stunner for UGA, which signed 5-star Jacob Eason this past year. The Bulldogs also have a  commitment from Jake Fromm, the 4-star from Houston County (Ga.) who is rated as the nation’s No. 3 quarterback for 2017.
