Georgia picked up a big-time commitment on Sunday, when 4-star quarterback Carson Beck committed to Georgia. Beck, who hails from Jacksonville, Fla., visited Georgia this weekend and made his announcement on Twitter.

The news of Beck’s commitment was met with the usual round of #committotheG and Go Dawgs tweets that have become a staple of Kirby Smart and the Georgia football Twitter account when the Bulldogs land a commitment.
Beck was the named the Mr. Football in the state of Florida r in 2018, as he threw for 3,546 yards and 39 touchdowns at Mandarin High School. Beck was also highly coveted by the in-state Florida Gators and head coach Dan Mullen. Naturally there were some interesting comments made about Georgia beating out Florida once again, including one from freshman linebacker Rian Davis.
Beck was a one-time Alabama commit, but he backed off his pledge to the Crimson Tide in Feburary. The last time Georgia landed a quarterback who was a one-time Alabama commit came back in the 2017 class, when Georgia landed Jake Fromm. Since then, Fromm has become Georgia’s starting quarterback and led them to back-to-back SEC title game appearances.
The Beck commitment comes a day after Georgia landed 4-star wide receiver Justin Robinson. With Beck now in the class the Bulldogs now have five commitments in the 2020 recruiting cycle and the No. 12 recruiting class. Georgia obviously still has a lot of big names out there including 5-star prospects like Arik Gilbert, Myles Murphy, Marshawn Lloyd and Bryan Bresee.

Georgia brought in two quarterbacks in the 2019 cycle, as it signed 4-star quarterback Dwan Mathis and JUCO transfer Stetson Bennett. Beck is a higher rated prospect than both of those players, as he is the No. 62 overall recruit in the 2020 recruiting cycle. Beck is also the No. 3 pro-style quarterback, and No. 4 quarterback overall in the class. Fromm was also the No. 3 pro-style quarterback and No. 4 overall quarterback in the 2017 recruiting class.
