WATCH: Jordan Davis leads Redcoat band, scores touchdown and sings fight song in ‘special’ senior day

ATHENS — Jordan Davis did everything but win the Heisman Trophy in his final home game as a Georgia Bulldog.
The senior defensive tackle once again led a stout Georgia defense. He found the endzone, scoring Georgia’s first points of the game on a goal-line carry.
Almost immediately, Davis and fellow defensive tackle Jalen Carter ran onto the field to take part in Georgia’s goal-line package. Davis normally lines up at tight end in the formation but the Bulldogs split White out wide and Carter and Davis swapped positions. The play itself was put in at practice this week.
Davis actually needed two plays to score. But you’re simply not going to keep a man of Davis out of the end zone.
“I knew after the play when I scored, I knew then it was a sure-fire touchdown because everybody was going crazy,” Davis said. “That was just the greatest moment.”
Quarterback Stetson Bennett actually joked that he hoped no one captured him handing the ball of to Davis given the size difference. As is usually the case when a Bulldog scores, a teammate will lift them in the air to celebrate. For Davis, he needed the assistance of offensive tackle Broderick Jones and White to be vaulted into the air.
“I didn’t know if it was going to happen but I’m glad it did,” linebacker Robert Beal said. “JD for Heisman.”
After the Bulldogs finished dusting off the Buccaneers, Davis then made his way over to the far side of the field so he could conduct the playing of the fight song. Davis, one of the larger personalities on the team, has a number of friends on the Georgia band and wanted to make sure their efforts were both recognized and celebrated, as Saturday was the final home game of the season for them as well.
